We’re Back!

Yes, we are back. 12/29/14

Clackamas River Water Update

The local AFCME is backing the recall of board members Holloway and Sterling. For details and a quick overview of the mess  look here.

Why Clackistan?

The Damascus City Council is engaged an endless screaming match. Oregon City is up to ears in a level of cronyism that is blatant by any standards. Save Gladstone has been exposed as nothing but a con job designed to line some local pockets with public money. We have two new county board members who owe their political existence to a Portland based corporation and handful of private interests. The Clackamas County Elections Division is an embarrassment. So is the Clackamas River Water Board.

So how did we end up here?

Depends on who you ask.

The word started showing up in news articles and letters to the editors earlier this year and by late summer we were stuck with it. Part commentary, part punch line, the name itself is a cautionary tale about local governments unprepared to deal with rapid change and the external forces pressing down on them, and an unimaginative, uninformed, population that continues to bet on the worst of alternatives. Meanwhile, a flock of carpetbaggers, con men and political hacks are circling the county waiting to scoop up the spoils.

This is Clackistan,
